Art? Oct. 12th, 2005 @ 05:21 pm
Are you guys down with all the weird art on campus? I was thinking of finding some roadkill, throwing it out in front of the KFA lawn and putting some crea paper, colored strings and pretty sign with it and calling it art. What do you think?

Wow. So, I guess I "signed up for my dorm preferences too late to get my choices" so now I'm a not-so-proud member of Parker Hall. The All Female Dorm. The ONLY All Female Dorm.

And I'm sure people are going to be like "Oh, it's really fun/great/awesome blah blah blah" but you have no idea how much this bothers me. I'm really upset. I didn't expect my first year of college to be so ..... secluded from guys?

I guess I'm just wondering, does anyone know what kind of girls are usually in Parker? I mean, what makes someone choose to be in an all female dorm? I can almost imagine all the reasons are ones I'd never pick for myself. But I'm trying to keep any open mind. Help?

I was biking with a friend earlier this evening. I headed back behind Hathorn and behind Wyman to get a different glance at the construction from the back. That back road there is closed where the construction is and there is a turn around loop there right behind Wyman. In the middle of that loop is a weedy, grassy depression. After looking at the new student center site, I turned around and noticed a deers head popping up in the middle of that weedy depression in the loop. Im almost certain is the same doe I have seen around the ampitheatre before and last summer because it is so tame. She just looks at you with curiosity and moseys around to within 10 yards of ya. Very tame and docile. If your around the ampitheatre area early evening or late afternoon you just might catch a glimpse.
» Registration!!!!!
Registration was really fun! I think next year is going to be amazing. I'm in Music Theory, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Intro to Yoga, Geology, College Algebra (I made it into Precalc, but math isn't my favorite, so oh well!!), and Percussion Lessons.

Comment back if you have any of these.. Oh, and some semi-cute/lame pictures of me in my new RF gear. I'm sorry if this is a waste of space, I'm just really excited:

» Good old summer
Aaaaah summer is here in this nice little town. And notice I say little, something much different during the academic year. River Falls really re-attains its sense of tranquility and small-town serenity during the summer. I used to think most places did, but thats just not the same in my home town anymore. Rush hour has turned into rush hour regardless of the time of year. Things tend to slow down here over the summer. The South Fork seems to flow more lazily and slowly. The occasional deer mosey across the vacant intramural softball fields in the early evening hours. Bar doors are propped open for the fresh air to come in, the skies never seemed bluer, the birds have never chirped more harmoniously.
The campus is almost a ghost town, but not quite. It is nice I move swiftly across campus with any equipment I need and dont need to worry about traffic or masses of people. Softball on Tuesday nights brings the community together, whether they are playing or spectating. The computer labs down here are silent and near vacant except for the occaisonal loser. Ok I take that last one back, some of those people are very productive here over the summer.
Today I biked down (yes biked, you can do that in this town and get everywhere!) to Town and Country Day behind Holiday Gas Station by the bank. I got cheesecurds and brats for lunch, oh so nice. Most weeks find me doing something else for lunch however.
A walk down town to Grateful Bread, Mariachi Loco (very good I might add) or Mainstreeters for my lunch break is very nice especially in this weather.
I feel sorry for the fuckers that have to "go home" for the summer. Can someone please tell me what people do when they go home? Just work 5 days a week? Well Im doing that now plus a class which I cant until its over TOMARROW! God bless me if I pass...
...And God bless all of you who stick around this wonderful town for the summer!
» SO excited for school!
